Paul says goodbye to Oz

Paul was a student from Germany, beginning his masters at Curtin when he was recruited into AIESEC in semester 1 2006. Since joining he has been a member of the incoming exchange team and has attended 2 national conferences and 2 state conferences. The Curtin LC is proud to be sending him to an amazing internship in Canada. He will be Curtin's 3rd SN. With studies in media management and a range of experiences Paul is going to be working for Nortel, a large multinational telecommunications company. More specifically Paul will be involved in the marketing side of the organisation and will go through the graduate leadership 2 year rotational program.

About 25 people went to Paul's farewell dinner last night. Paul was overwhelmed with hugs, presents and best wishes.
You can follow Paul's adventure at http://www.paul-krajewski.de/

All the best Paul- we hope it will be a great life changing experience.

State Manager Update

23rd May Regional Social Drinking
We've been too soft for too long! Its time to actually go and do some drinking! I'm recently single. Come help me celebrate! :) We will be at Carnegies from 8pm-ish. Already been a few people letting me know they will be there, so yay!

27th June Conference prep day
Getting excited and pumped and prepared for the biggest conference in my ENTIRE AIESEC EXPERIENCE...

JULY CONFERENCE!!!
Tuesday July 3rd - State Manager Day (not required for everyone else)
Wednesday July 4th - National Leadership Team Day & Opening night (not required for everyone else but opening night SO IS!)
Thursday July 5th - Sub-committees Day & Bar Hop (we are in Melbourne after all)
Friday July 6th - Youth Impact Seminar (YIS)
Saturday July 7th - DLD
Sunday July 8th - Global Village
Monday July 9th to Saturday July 14th - Conference
Sunday 15th - Weds 18th (or so...TBC) Post Conference (there are rumours of a ski trip...)
Start looking at flights now guys, you can get them fairly cheap...it will seriously be the biggest conference for a long time! Most states are looking at delegations in the 40 or so member vicinity so that guarantees a massive conference!

25th July AIESEC Mid Year Reward and Recognition
This is the night where we recognise the achievements of AIESEC WA members during the first half of the year. Awards criteria will be released soon by the regional board. This night is an opportunity to mingle with fellow AIESEC members from around the region, alumni and key stakeholders. This will be at the Broken Hill Hotel, on Albany Hwy with time to be confirmed.

And remember - if you ever have anything you want to discuss with the regional board about what you think AIESEC should be doing in this state, don't hesitate to talk to any of us - myself, Shez or Viv. Some other exciting things...Applications for International Congress 2007 have recently been released. This will be held in Turkey this year, from the 18th - 30th August. Talk to a friendly RB member if you are interested.

16th March           Developing Leaders Day
Another exciting day - we are expecting roughly 100 people to an afternoon DLD (from 1 - 5pm) with two workshops in a split flow format.  Collins St Leisure Centre in South Perth, featuring Ariane Guimbeau (CEO Institute), Simon Leunig (Associate Dean ECU), and more.  Featuring subjects like managing marketing over the AP region, managing different cultures, what sort of leadership the AP needs, etc.  Should be a really great event, and I already have RSVPs, so RSVP away! RSVP Melanie Ho at melanie.ho@aiesec.net.

18th March          Train the Trainer

For those of us who need to be able or want to be able to use the Quicken software.  We are having a trainer fly over from Sydney to run this for us.  Will be from 9am - 11.30am on the morning, at UWA in the GSM computer lab. RSVP ASAP because there are only 40 computers available and we are opening it up to business school students as well. So definitely RSVP as soon as possible.  I am taking RSVPs now for AIESECers, so get in before Weds which is when I will open it up to Business School.

27th March           Cultural night
A night of fun with food!  We havent completely finalised what we are going to do for this night but it will probably involve some sort of cooking competition based on different cultures.  Very exciting stuff. Again, time and venue TBC.

12th April           Opening Breakfast
A stakeholder networking breakfast for our members, stakeholders, and to be opened up to the wider university community.  Very similar to the ECOMs breakfast for those that are familiar with it, but not so much about finding a job!

12th - 14th April   STATE CONFERENCE!
The biggest thing this year- 60+ people from around the state coming together for three days of AIESEC knowledge, leadership and management coaching and FUN.

27th April           Portfolio training
The weekend of the 27th April will host portfolio training for the newly formed AIESEC teams!  Every portfolio will have a training session this weekend, facilitated by the team leaders.  More details of this will be released by your team leaders.
